Expectations

  1. Students who partake in the beginner class once in a week are projected to move to Intermediate in 6 – 8 months based on a quarterly evaluation.
  2. Students who partake in the beginner class twice or more a week are projected to move to Intermediate in 3 – 5 months based on a quarterly evaluation.
  3. BBTA recommends all students of the Intermediate level to practice two to three times a week to prepare for local tournaments. Coaches will evaluate the students the first week of every quarter to determine their progress. Students are expected to move to advance in 12 months from Intermediate.
  4. BBTA recommends all Intermediate students to have proper badminton shoes/racket during practice.
  5. All Advanced students who are ready to compete in major tournaments are required to train a minimum of three times a week if the student chooses to compete.
  6. During the first week of every quarter, BBTA will conduct an internal tournament for all advance and elite students. The top 12 singles students will stay in Elite I. Some spots may be reserved for double players only (however, if the doubles or mixed only players decide to play singles during a tournament, they will forfeit their spot in the Elite class). The competition will include all BBTA locations and should maintain a friendly game experience. Excepts may apply due to player’s single or double training requests and must be approved by Halim or Harry.
  7. BBTA will choose the top 4 Elite II students to train with the Elite I students at least once a week every quarter in preparation for Elite I training. Players must maintain a high level of discipline and dedication in order to stay in the Elite I class. Otherwise, the player must remain in Elite II or Advanced.
  8.  Parents should not interfere or request a coach to make a certain decision in the placement of a student either in class or a tournament.
